Media Publishing, Bachelor
Program overview:
This is the oldest degree in publishing management within Germany. It educates
publishing specialists, who then receive a Bachelor degree. Graduates may further
enhance and broaden the scope of their studies by subsequently completing a Master’s program.
The Bachelor degree is based on the following four key elements: a fundamental education in mathematics
and natural sciences, technical knowledge of all printing technology process stages, business management
training including marketing as well as specialised training in publishing. Whilst books and printing form
the traditional focal points of the program, electronic communication media (electronic publishing) are new
subjects which have been added. Students work with state of the art hardware and software.
Employment opportunities for graduates include a wide range of areas: manufacturing, marketing
(advertising, sales promotion, PR), sales, accounting (taxes, financial management, electronic processing)
and interdisciplinary functions (Assistant to Upper Management). Graduates are attaining or are being offered
upper management positions at an ever increasing rate.
Admission to the course of studies is restricted (numerus clausus). Prospective students may apply
for a begin of undergraduate studies in either the winter or summer semester.
