Print Media Management, Bachelor

In addition to the production and distribution of traditional print media, printing and media companies must cope with new online and offline media on daily basis, as they increasingly become cross-media providers and content managers. Next to print media, companies in the printing and media industries are also progressively producing more online homepages, carrying out database publishing and performing content management tasks for their customers. The key competencies of economic engineers in the “Print Media Management” course of studies include data handling, workflow organisation for multiple use of digital data in diverse media technologies, technical and economic evaluation techniques, and the performance of management and consulting tasks. Students are prepared for future responsibilities through sound management training, which is accompanied by specific technical course subjects.

The core curriculum includes lectures on economics, natural sciences and technology. Workshops, management games and seminars, supplemented by practical project work in teams, round off the main course of studies. The contents of the programme are largely influenced by current requirements of the printing and media industries. Students can also make use of industry specific software in laboratories at all times.

The curriculum offers scope for individual creativity. Students can choose their own special fields from elective lectures offered in the fundamental subjects of "management", "economics and law", media" and "printing technology".

Graduates of the “Print Media Management” course of studies are recognised and competent associates with respect to all economic and media related matters. Their solid management training enables them to take on managerial positions. As economic engineers, graduates are able to find interesting, responsible and well-paid executive positions in printing and media companies as well as with global players in the supply industry or at management consultancy firms.

Admission to the Print Media Management programme is restricted (numerus clausus).
