Advertising and Market Communication. Bachelor

Program Overview: The HdM is one of the few higher education institutions in Germany offering a special course of studies in the field of advertising and market communications. The exceptional aspect of this program is its comprehensive education of the students in the area of advertising communications for businesses, organisations, institutions as well as for their products and services.

The program emphasises the areas of communication, business/economics, design, society and technology. These are placed in correlation with advertising contents and analysed in the context of media. The students thereby not only obtain theoretical and interdisciplinary contents, but also learn to apply this knowledge in practical exercises, applications and projects. The integrated co-op working term, lectures from the business industry and media focused excursions round off the practice oriented approach of this course of studies.

Graduates of this program are able to analyse, plan and act in a strategic as well as integral manner, in the sense of advertising and market communications. They can incorporate advertising with other business communications tools (communication mix), integrate them into comprehensive business and organisational strategies as well as formulate and implement the appropriate measures.

Employment opportunities include: advertising and communications management in marketing departments, advertising and PR agencies in particular as well the coordination of projects; the conception and planning of advertising contents and campaigns; the editorship of communication and advertising contents, the planning and implementation of CI measures, the implementation of marketing strategies, the collaboration in market and trend research as well as professions such as account executive, copywriter, art and budget directors, event and convention planners or as webmasters. A jump into self-employment is also a possibility for graduates.

Admission to the course of studies is restricted (numerus clausus). Prospective students may apply for a begin of undergraduate studies in either the winter or summer semesters.
