Survey regarding the change of Image Capturing Formats in Motion Pictures

Aim of the survey
Aim of the survey is the quantitative acquisition and the detailed documentation of the practices applied in the production of motion pictures in the times of the "digital revolution".
The "Farewell to Celluloid", predicted since decades, has not yet come to pass. However - thanks to new technologies like the Digital Intermediate and the laser transfer from data or video signals onto the more than one century long approved standard of 35mm film - the use of electronic cameras has become part of everyday's life in the production of motion pictures today. Starting around ten years ago, this evolution had to be developed painstakingly in the beginning. The steps from the purely optochemical process to the perfect digital workflow of today shall be documented in this survey.
Focal point are the image capturing practices on the set and the artistic-technical approaches of the Directors of Photography.

Who is being polled?
The 1538 Directors of Photography of the 3425 Motion Pictures that had a theatrical release in Germany in the years of 1997 until 2007 will receive a personal invitation if their contact data is available.
If you have not yet received an invitation but wish to participate in the survey, please check first if the filmtitle, or your name, respectively the name of the DoP, you want to add information for, is included in the database.

If you have received an invitation for this poll, please go directly to the questionaire. It is possible to correct or add details later, if you cannot answer all questions immediately. In this case please note down the code, that will be displayed on the last page of the questionaire.
