Proofing is the ability to preview the image quality and content of a printing job prior to production. A proof emulates the production environment as closely as possible and provides the customer with a simulation of the final product.
Cromalin™ is a multiple film colour proofing system using a light sensitive tacky photopolymer layer. This layer is exposed to a UV light source which activates the photoinitiators. The molecules in the tacky layer polymerize, and the layer is not tacky any more. The coloured powder is applied; it is fixed only where the tacky layer was not exposed. Subsequent layers of colourant are employed to make up the final proof.
