At registration the students are partitioned into 4 groups. Each group selects one out of the four exercise subjects Bluetooth, Mobile OS, Wap/i-mode, or JME as its presentation subject. The groups have to prepair presentations on their presentation subjects. At the first two dates (30.10.08 and 06.11.08) the groups present their subject (90 min for each group).
The presentations shall constitute an introduction for all groups in all subjects.

Contents
This lab course shall provide a pragmatic insight in a selected set of modern mobile application development methods. Currently the following subjects constitute the 4 exercises:
  • Bluetooth: Different types of data and audio transmission over Bluetooth is sniffed using a powerful Bluetooth protocol analyser. The tracked Bluetooth communication is then analysed and discussed with respect to all relevant Bluetooth protocols.
  • Mobile OS: For the mobile operating systems Symbian OS, Windows Mobile 2005, Blackberry and Palm OS simple applications are developed using the corresponding PC SDKs. After that the applications are ported to mobile phones.
  • JME: The major aspects of JME application development are covered in this excercise. Simple JME applications are developed on the PC using the NetBeans IDE. The entire process from development to installing on the mobile phone is conducted in this exercise
  • Mobile Internet/Flash: Subject of this exercise is the mobile Internet access. Moreover, simple Flash applications are developed and ported to the mobile phone
