Social Programme

The Summer School not only offers you a fine selection of interesting seminars in the LIS discipline, but also the opportunity to visit a lively city and region.

With more than 600,000 inhabitants, Stuttgart is the sixth largest city in Germany. The city is home to renowned car manufacturers Mercedes-Benz and Porsche and also an important base for the media and publishing industry. 40,000 young people study at universities in the Swabian metropolis, making it a highly popular place to live, work and study.

Alongside the State Gallery, the State Theatre - with plays, ballet and opera - the Wuerttemberg Museum and the Art Museum, Stuttgart is renowned for its hip hop music scene, most notably represented by Massive Töne, Freundeskreis and Die Fantastischen Vier.

The city's main public attractions include the Wilhelma Zoo, the Old Castle, the Mercedes Benz Museum and the Weissenhof Architectural Quarter.

The city's location in the Neckar valley, surrounded by vineyards and close to the Swabian Alps and Lake Constance, offers picturesque views and a wealth of leisure activities. Nearby towns, including Esslingen, Tübingen or Ludwigsburg, are also well worth visiting.

Detailed information on the social programme will be provided closer to the date of the Summer School.
