Industrial Printing covers printing applications in the fields of packaging, textiles, décors, ceramics, embellishments, functional layers, and printed electronics. The largest industrial printing markets are packaging and textile while many innovative applications are found in the broad field of printed electronics. Screen printing is the preferred process for applying difficult inks like viscous polymers, large particles, and solid in liquid suspensions with high solid load that are needed for the desired functionality of printed films. An emphasis of the Industrial Printing module therefore lies on screen printing. Digital printing has a growing share in all industrial printing markets. After completion of the course students have obtained a thorough understanding of the products, requirements on functional layers, printing technologies, and workflows in the industrial printing markets. Students understand the employed processes and physical backgrounds, and are able to work on advanced topics and projects in these fields. The first part of Industrial, Specialty and Functional Printing covers the digital printing applications in the industrial printing markets, the second part focuses on screen printing. Screen printing is currently the dominant process for functional printing and printed electronics. | ||||
