Are you studying at Hochschule der Medien and would like to put your own business idea into practice? Would you like to know where business ideas come from and how innovations emerge?
At the Generator, the Startup Center of Hochschule der Medien, located at Nobelstraße 5, students and alumni can get personal consultation, as well as information about funding possibilities for entrepreneurs (EXIST, Junge Innovatoren).

In the field of Entrepreneurship Education, a variety of curricular seminars (https://startupcenter-stuttgart.de/seminare/) and refresher courses on topics such as Design Thinking and Business Modeling are available. Additionally, you can take part in our one-week long ADVANCE e-school. Since 2016, we offer the master’s degree "Intra- and Entrepreneurship (tech)" that can be done extra-occupationally in cooperation with the University of Stuttgart (https://innovative-entrepreneurship.de).
The Startup Center conducts sensitization workshops in order to get freshmen in touch with the topic of entrepreneurship. This is done in a project called “Spinnovation” (http://spinnovation.info) that started in 2016. The Startup Center is jointly implementing it with the universities in Aalen and Reutlingen.
The follow-up project "Spinnovation Plus" complements "Spinnovation" in three areas: Networking, individual validation and social entrepreneurship. Its aim is to improve the quality and variety of student support offered in the areas of entrepreneurship and founding. Since August 2017, ten teams are working in our Coworking Space, the so-called "Playpark" (Pavillon P03), which is funded by the EU-project CERIecon (https://startupcenter-stuttgart.de/projekte/ceriecon/). Those teams managed to score a place in the SANDBOX (https://startupcenter-stuttgart.de/sandbox/), our accelerator for founders in the creative industries. The Sandbox offers workshops, seminars and coachings, in which the participating teams learn all the skills they need in order to found their own business. It is free and all creative teams and individuals can apply.
The Interreg project IN SITU (Intergenerational Social Innovation Support Scheme) targets socioeconomic and demographic challenges. The main focus lies on long-term unemployed with insufficient qualifications. In order to meet the special needs in all partner regions, the project consortium will formulate a strategy for the development and support of cross-generational social innovations. The goal is to use said strategy and additional training- and mentoring programs in order to develop new companies and initiatives with social focus. The European Office in Vienna, which has also been the responsible lead partner for the predecessor project CERIecon (Central Europe Regional Innovation Ecosystems Network), is the project lead. Other partners involved are from Veneto/Italy, Rijeka/Croatia, Dąbrowa Górnicza (Poland) and Maribor/Slovenia. Additionally, the office for economic development in the Stuttgart region (WRS) is a regional cooperation partner.

The Interreg project COCO4CCI (Cooperation Collider for Culture and Creative Industries), which has a duration of 2 years, aims to support knowledge transfer and cooperation between the culture and creative industries and the technology sector. To do so, matching formats and training programs play a central part. Lead partner is the Slovenian chamber of industry and commerce, other project partners are from Linz/Upper Austria, Košice/Slovakia, Veneto/Italy and Stettin/Poland. Regional partner of Stuttgart Media University is the economic initiative Baden-Württemberg Connected (bwcon). Numerous events complete the offer of the Startup Center, including the founder trade fair Generation Media Startup, the international idea competition Entrepreneurial Brains Made on Campus (EBMC) (https://startupcenter-stuttgart.de/ebmc/), the networking event Business Unplugged, and the SANDBOX Demo-Day.
