The Oxford Online Placement Test: an introduction for students (Video)

 

The OOPT classifies your current level of language competence in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

For all courses of study (Bachelor and Master) the OOPT is an ungraded mandatory performance for all new students (see current Study and Examination Regulation - SPO).

Dates: Please check our Calendar

Fee: 40 € will be charged for each repetition of the test. The fee is due to be paid upon registration through the registration link. Please note: registration is binding and we cannot refund the fee (exceptions possible, e.g. in the event of sickness with medical certificate).

 

Process: Every participant receives a login during the test. Please bring your headset and student ID on the test day.

If required, a headset can be purchased for 3 € from the language center.

Duration: 60 minutes.

 

Features:

  • computer- and internet-based test
  • multiple-choice and cloze-test questions
  • tasks: listening and text comprehension, grammar, vocabulary
  • adaptive test: the test changes according to the candidate level.
     

Results: The following scores correspond to the language levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

Example: if you get a score of 72 points, you have a B2.2 level so you can register for a B2.2 language course.
