German Language Course for Exchange Students
In cooperation with VESPA (Verbund für Sprachenangelegenheiten) we offer German language courses for exchange students free of any extra charge.
The German language course consists of intensive daily language training before the beginning of the semester (72 teaching hours) and then continues with weekly language training during the semester (48 teaching hours). We strongly recommend participating in the full-time intensive language courses since the weekly courses are follow-on classes. However, if you do not have the opportunity to attend the intensive course, there still will be the opportunity to join the semester courses, after taking the placement test.
On offer are beginner level courses (level A1 and A2 according to the CEFR) and advanced level courses (B1 and B2 according to the CEFR) as well as professional training during the semester (level C1 and Academic German). The obligatory placement test onDaF takes place on the first day of our Welcome Weeks in order to allocate you to the appropriate course level.
Our courses take place at the Hochschule der Medien as well as at our partner universities in Stuttgart. All locations are easily accessible with public transportation.
Course certificates stating grades and the achieved language level are issued after regular attendance and successful completion of course tasks and tests. You will get 3 ECTS for the successful completion of the German intensive course before the beginning of the semester and 2 ECTS for the German semester course.
Once you have been accepted to the Hochschule der Medien and take part in our Welcome Weeks, you are automatically enrolled to the German language course.
