The actual application process is self-explanatory and straight forward.

STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

With your application form you will need to submit the following documents.

  • Official transcripts for all secondary and post-secondary studies, even if completed several years ago. If you're currently completing a college or a university course, please send a transcript showing your course enrollment and grades to date. STEP 2: SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

You can find the pdf application form for October 2019 entry here to prepare for your future application. The form for October 2020 will be uploaded on the site later this year. Please do not use the old form 2019 anymore.

WHAT DO I NEED TO SUBMIT?

GERMAN/EU/EEA NATIONALS as well as other nationals classified as Bildungsinländer (students who have obtained their university entrance qualification in Germany) with no need for a student visa:

  • The PDF application form
  • All the supporting documents as listed above (see Step 1)

You will later be asked to submit the above supporting documents (see Step 1) via an online portal for students who do not need to pay international fees.

NON-EU/NON-EEA NATIONALS:

  • The PDF application form
  • All the supporting documents as listed above (see Step 1)

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?

NON-EU/NON-EEA NATIONALS:

        Rolling admissions - apply now!

Applications received by 31 May: You will have a better chance to receive a room offer in our halls of residence. Since applications for our degree programme are processed as they come in, available spots can fill up quickly. Please also apply early, should you need to arrange for a student visa, as this might take some weeks or in some countries even for over a month to be completed.

We will review applications until 15 July. Applications will be processed case by case. Please note, that applicants sending their documents after the 31 May might not be able to receive a room in our dormitories, but will most likely be on a waiting list. If you need to apply for a visa, the time frame might in some cases be quite tight for these arrangements. It might be challenging to get visa on time, if applying during June and July.

GERMAN/EU/EEA NATIONALS AND "BILDUNGSINLÄNDER":

Please send your pdf application document (see Step 2) and the copy of your ID to us as soon as possible, recommended deadline is 31 May. As mentioned above, you will then later need to submit your personal details and your required supporting documents via an online portal. You will receive more information about this in your pre-acceptance document (see below Step 3).

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION FORM?

Please email it together with required documents (in one pdf file) to admissions@hdm-stuttgart.de

You don't need to send us any hard copies at this stage.

STEP 3: RECEIVING YOUR OFFICIAL ACCEPTANCE FROM US

After receiving your complete application pack, we will process your documents and liaise with the Academic Dean of the programme to discuss your application.

Depending on your residence status/nationality in terms of the visa process, we have two pathways to your acceptance:

NON-EU/NON-EEA NATIONALS:

Should our Faculty approve your application for admission, we aim to send out your official acceptance letter (via email) over the following six to eight weeks. Should you need a hard copy of the letter sent, please let us know after receiving your acceptance email. You might need a hard copy for example for your visa appointment.

GERMAN/EU/EEA NATIONALS AND "BILDUNGSINLÄNDER":

Should our Faculty recommend you for admission, you will get a pre-acceptance document (via email) over the next six to eight weeks. You then need to submit your details and all the required supporting documents later via an online portal which will open towards end of May. Together with your pre-acceptance document you will receive more information about the next steps and the deadline for the online submission. Should your application get approved after submission of the required documents online, you will receive the official acceptance via online portal later in the summer.

STEP 4: APPLY FOR ACCOMMODATION

We strongly recommend students to consider our University's dormitories. Please find more information about the different residence options here.

DEADLINE: Please apply immediately after you have received the official acceptance letter/pre-acceptance document from us!

If you wish to live in the dormitory, applying for our degree programme by 31 May will help you to receive the acceptance letter/pre-acceptance document earlier. This gives you more time for your accommodation application.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION?

After receiving the official acceptance/pre-acceptance document for the study programme from us, please apply online here.

After the room allocations have been made, the accommodation provider Studierendenwerk Stuttgart will email you directly with the tenancy agreement and other important information. Please note, that you then need to take care of the payment for the deposit and for the first month's rent!

STEP 5: APPLY FOR VISA (if applicable)

Please contact the German Embassy in your country to book an appointment already before you apply as this might take several weeks or months. For more information on the Embassy contact details, required documents, costs, and the further process, please visit the website of the German visa authorities here.

DEADLINE: Please apply and schedule your appointment att the latest immediately after you have submitted your application to us.  As getting an appointment might take some time, we recommend you to book your appointment before you have submitted your application to us. You can always cancel it later, should your plans change.

STEP 6: SUBMIT DOCUMENTS TO ACCEPT YOUR PLACE AT HdM

With the official acceptance letter, we will send you forms you will need to complete and submit back to us in order to accept your study place. You will find more information about the required forms and the submission deadline in your acceptance email. This will also mean paying for the the full tuition fees for your first semester (international students).

STEP 7: PREPARE FOR YOUR TRAVEL TO STUTTGART!

We will send you more information on the semester dates, orientation programme and other preparations over the coming weeks and months.

You will be met with a very warm welcome when you arrive here at HdM!

Studying at a university will be different from anything you have done before.

We will make sure that you get all the support you need to make the most of the excellent student experience we offer and to enjoy your time with us!
