Applying to a university can seem very daunting. There seems to be so much to do! Do not worry - we are here to help you and look forward to welcoming you here at HdM very soon! The actual application process is self-explanatory and straight forward.
With your application form you will need to submit the following documents.
Please remember that transcripts, certificates and other formal academic credentials not in English or German must also be translated by a certified translator and included with the original document copy. The official translation should carry an official stamp, a seal and/or an authorizing signature.
You can find the application form for October 2020 entry here to prepare for your application.
Please note, that this document is a Microsoft Word document allowing you to fill out the required fields with your details. You might need to activate the editing tool in your Microsoft Word programme. If you can not use the typing option, please print out the form and complete it manually, sign, scan and send it to us as a pdf document together with all the required supporting documents.
WHAT DO I NEED TO SUBMIT?
GERMAN/EU/EEA NATIONALS as well as other nationals classified as Bildungsinländer (students who have obtained their university entrance qualification in Germany) with no need for a student visa:
You will later in summer 2020 be asked to submit the rest of the above supporting documents (see Step 1) via an online portal for students who do not need to pay international fees.
WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?
Applications received by 31 May: You will have a better chance to receive a room offer in our halls of residence. Since applications for our degree programme are processed as they come in, available spots can fill up quickly. Please also apply early, should you need to arrange for a student visa, as this might take some weeks or in some countries even for several months to be completed.
We will review applications until 15 July. Applications will be processed case by case. Please note, that applicants sending their documents after the 31 May might not be able to receive a room in our dormitories, but will most likely be on a waiting list. If you need to apply for a visa, the time frame might in some cases be quite tight for these arrangements. It might be challenging to get visa on time, if applying during June and July. We also fill the places for our degree programme on a "first come first served" basis.
GERMAN/EU/EEA NATIONALS AND "BILDUNGSINLÄNDER":
Please send your pdf application form and further documents (see Step 2) as soon as possible, recommended deadline is 31 May. As mentioned above, you will then later need to submit your personal details and the rest of the required supporting documents via an online portal. You will receive more information about this in your pre-acceptance document (see below Step 3).
HOW DO I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION FORM?
Please email it together with required documents (in one pdf file) to email@example.com
You don't need to send us any hard copies at this stage.
After receiving your complete application pack, we will process your documents and liaise with the Academic Dean of the programme to discuss your application.
Depending on your residence status/nationality in terms of the visa process, we have two pathways to your acceptance:
Should our Faculty approve your application for admission, we aim to send out your official acceptance letter (via email) over the following two to four weeks. Should you need a hard copy of the letter sent, please let us know this after receiving your acceptance email. You might need a hard copy for your visa appointment.
GERMAN/EU/EEA NATIONALS AND "BILDUNGSINLÄNDER":
Should our Faculty recommend you for admission, you will get a pre-acceptance document (via email) over the next two to four weeks. You then need to submit your details and all the required supporting documents later via an online portal which will open towards end of May. Together with your pre-acceptance document you will receive more information about the next steps and the deadline for the online submission. Should your application get approved after submission of the required documents online, you will receive the official acceptance via online portal later in the summer.
We strongly recommend students to consider the dormitories provided by Studierendenwerk Stuttgart. Please find more information about the different residence options here.
DEADLINE: Please apply immediately after you have received the official acceptance letter/pre-acceptance document from us!
