Eine Empirische Analyse des Hypothetischen Konstrukts Organizational Innovativeness

Innovations are the long-term lifeblood of an organization. Nevertheless, becoming innovative requires a cultural openness towards new ideas which is called organizational innovativeness (OI). But how can managers analyze the actual status quo within a company to make relevant strategic decisions? Innovativeness as a hypothetical construct can’t be observed empirical but needs a measurement model that enables an indirect assessment by using appropriate indicators. Therefore, this research verifies an existing theoretical OI model through empirical analysis with regard to its applicability within German organizations. The analysis contains not only the model examination but also its modification which results in an OI construct applicable to the assessment within German organizations. Since innovations are inevitably linked to risk and German national culture exhibits strong uncertainty avoidance, also the tolerance for risk and failure of an organization is investigated within the empirical analysis of the OI model. The third investigation of this research refers to the relation of the corporate culture and the innovativeness of an organization. Due to the research gap of this correlation, it is also investigated within the empirical analysis of the OI construct.
