Curriculum

All courses offered at Hochschule der Medien (University of Applied Sciences in Media) are credit rated. The program runs over 7 semesters (3 ½ years), and each semester is worth 30 credit points, which are obtained by successfully passing examinations. To be awarded the B.A. qualification, you must accumulate a total of 210 credits (ECTS).

Our degree program combines three awesome fields: business, media, and AI tools. In the business field, the focus will be on marketing and management. Media design, media production and storytelling will introduce you professional content creation. As AI is of growing importance in marketing, you will learn how to use AI to do amazing things in each of these areas. For example, you will learn how to use AI to create content, like stories, videos, and podcasts as well as how to use AI tools in marketing, e.g. to make smart decisions, analyze markets, target customers, and run campaigns. In addition, you will also improve you language skills in either English or German, depending on your native language. Several soft skills modules will support your personal development and teach you skills needed for your work life. Our degree program prepares you for the future of work and life.

In the first two semesters (year 1)  provide an introduction to the different aspects of social media marketing and management. You will gain a common core of knowledge in business, media production, law, and AI, which will subsequently be extended. Assessment is mainly throught formal written exams that take place at the end of each semester. Depending on your native language you will also take a language course, either in German or English.


In semester 3 and 4 (year 2) we will go into more detail and focus on the specifics of social media marketing and management aspects. This will also include hands-on experiences as you will not only be responsible for the social media newsroom of our study program but also do a research project related to social media marketing. Assessment is mainly a combination of formal written exams and project work.


The fifth semester (internship) you will spend in a company and use your skills and knowledge in the real world. You can choose a company you like and gain hands-on experiences. This will help you decide what kind of projects you want to do in the next two semesters, and what topic you want to write your bachelor’s thesis about. 


In the sixth and seventh semesters , you will work on cool projects (compulsory elective modules). You can choose from a huge selection of projects that changes every semester. Most of the projects are with external partners, like companies or social institutions. You will work together with students from other bachelor degree programs, so you can learn from each other. You can do projects in German or English, or both. Assessment is mainly based on the project work you submit.
