Game development goes through different stages from the first idea to the finished game. A variety of talents is needed, therefore game development is performed in highly interdisciplinary teams which are composed of students from different departments.
An entertaining, educational or moving game emerges when a team of designers, artists and technical developers work closely together. All the necessary knowledge is taught in our different courses.
A strong focus is on the technical game development, i.e. the game programming with various game engines or programming languages. But also animation and design skills can be acquired during the studies and used by students in practical game projects. These projects leave plenty of room for students to apply the skills they have learned and to try out different methods.
The course "Audiovisual Media" conveys theory and practice in the areas of interactive systems, film, sound, visual effects, animation and television with a strong technical relevance. All of these skills are also relevant in the field of game production.
Information technology and mathematical-scientific knowledge are imparted in the study course Media Informatics and can be intensively deepened in the during the course - icluding the areas software development, artificial intelligence, networks or gaming.
User Experience Design, usability engineering, media design and digital innovation are combined in the mobile media degree program with programming competence or app development. In the main course, emphasis can be placed on the development of (mobile) games.
Especially in the program specialization "Interactive Systems and Games", but also in the fields of sound, film or animation relevant skills for game development can be acquired and deepened in this master's program. The course conveys extensive technical knowledge and a sound understanding of conception and design.
In addition to a variety of technical topics, the Master's program also offers Game Development, Machine Learning or Mobile Media as a field of choice. The program is aimed at computer science graduates who wish to deepen their expertise in areas such as software technology and engineering, interactive media or IT management.
