Beschreibung: Die Veranstaltung vermittelt, wie Serious Games konzipiert, technisch umgesetzt und empirisch bewertet werden. Im Mittelpunkt stehen folgende Leitfragen:
  • What are Serious Games and what makes them different from other game-based approaches?
  • What characterizes a high-quality Serious Game? (Quality Criteria, RAL Gütezeichen Serious Games)
  • Why do people play? (UX vs. Player Experience, Self-Determination Theory/PENS, ARCS, Flow/GameFlow, Presence & Immersion, PPAX)
  • How does gameplay become learning? (Learning Objectives, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Learning vs. Game Activities, 8LEM, Constructive Alignment, Prior Knowledge, Cognitive Load, Problem-Based Learning, Merrill, Self-Regulated Learning)
  • How do we turn a Learning Activity into something the player actually does? (Game Mechanics, Core Loops, MDA, LM-GM Model, Intrinsic Integration, Narrative, Challenge, Feedback, Rewards, Player Preferences, Gamification)
  • What makes a game physically serious? (Health Games, Exergames, Training Stimuli, Sensors & HCI, Motion/Eye/Affect Tracking, Safety & Accessibility)
  • Does more technology make a better Serious Game? (Technical Affordances, VR/AR/MR, Presence, Embodiment, Tracking, Latency, Multiplayer, Social Presence, Cybersickness)
  • When should a Serious Game adapt to the player? (Adaptivity & Adaptability, Player/Learner Models, Micro-/Macro-Adaptation, NGLOB, AI-based Personalization, Predictive/Decision/Generative AI)
  • Can a Serious Game simulate the human you need to learn with? (Behavior Trees, Utility AI, GOAP/BDI, Cognitive Architectures, RL, LLM Personas & Agents, Multi-Agent Systems, Digital Twins)
