In semesters 6 and 7 students work in mixed project teams on current issues with practical relevance. Projects range from specialist projects with a clear disciplinary focus over interdisciplinary projects that combine two disciplines to transdisciplinary projects which last two semesters and integrate several specialist perspectives. The students work independently on the projects and take responsibility for organizing their project work, communicating with the project partner and producing excellent project results, while lecturers support them as project coaches.
Project partners are typically social organizations, associations, or companies. They introduce the students to the specific challenge they are facing and provide the materials, information, and input the students need to come up with a solution. This way students can gain hands-on experiences in solving problems of practical relevance, while the project partners get a solution for their problem.
