"Earn money with the media!" Conceiving, realising, marketing and using media are economic competences. Alongside management skills, students also acquire interdisciplinary knowledge about the social, content-related, design and technical aspects of media production, use and effects. With these topics, the degree programme in Media Management trains students for jobs in the media and service industries and also for working in industry.

Contents and Structure

In the seven-semester degree programme, theory and practice go hand in hand: in the taught courses and in media projects, students use the University’s state-of-the-art production studios and equipment. Furthermore, interdisciplinary projects in small teams ensure that theoretical knowledge is applied in practice.

In the basic part of the degree programme, students acquire knowledge of (media) economics, technology, design and communication sciences. In the main part of the degree programme, they extend their knowledge in the specialisations Management or Conception & Analysis: the specialisation Management includes management and economics especially for the media. In the specialisation Conception & Analysis, the analysis, conception, design and production of media products is the main focus. Alongside these specialisations, electives offer students the chance to organise their studies according to their individual interests.

As an integrated practical semester, the fifth semester enables students to experience contact with media and industrial companies. Students learn to apply their knowledge and so extend their understanding of work and interrelationships in the real economy. The practical semester is also often a stepping-stone to a future career.

Perspectives

The range and content of the degree programme qualifies graduates to work in management or production in the fields of media and marketing. The degree programme equips graduates with well-grounded economic knowledge and provides understanding for the necessary cross-media processes. Graduates work in the fields of marketing and communication, in product and project management, in company development and management offices or in the conception and production of media. After graduation it is also possible to enrol for the consecutive Master’s degree programme Electronic Media.

Admission

The degree programme starts in the winter and summer semester. Student places are limited.
