The HdM Library – your Media Library on the Vaihingen Campus

The HdM library is a specialized scientific library. It procures, archives, makes accessible and transmits specialized information in both printed and digital media. Its information portals and catalogs provide access to world-wide resources to both teachers and students, for research and teaching.

Information not available in the HdM library can be ordered quickly and inexpensively through the inter-library loan system. Further, consultation and training services help users of the library to develop their  media and information competences.

Generous library spaces provide room for independent learning, either individually or in groups. The facilities offered by the library are constantly being adapted, expanded, and optimized to meet the requirements of different users.

Work and Study

The library team is committed to helping you work and study in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. We recognize the importance of attractive design and offer a large number of reading corners with sofas and bean-bags. There are also workplaces for quiet, independent study as well as areas for group work, a large learning centre with projectors, mobile displays, and a separate studio with additional workplaces and freely available resources including team tables with fixed displays, mobile partitions, whiteboards and flipcharts.

Additional equipment (cables, adapters, remote controls and iPads) can be obtained from the service point on the ground floor. Naturally, the building’s atriums are accessible and provide an attractive space to sit in and enjoy, especially in summer.

Library use information

The Library Card

All students get a user account with their student ID. Additional registration is not necessary. The HdM ID card  also functions as a library card. Each student’s 7-digit account number is on the back of their card. A library card for non-students and guests can be requested at the registration desk.

WebPAC with Self-Management

Through our main catalog WebPac (english version available) you can easily research the entire library inventory. With WebPac’s self-management features you always have access to your account where you can see your orders and reservations, and extend the return date for borrowed media.

External Access

Most digital library offerings (databases, e-books, e-journals, online videos) are available on the campus network. As a HdM member you can access them even from home with your HdM Account via the Shibboleth procedure.

The library’s facilities are available later than other university services. Digital products are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Current opening times can be found on our website.
