German Courses
The program ‘German as Foreign Language’ gives international students the opportunity to acquire or to deepen their German skills and to expand their technical vocabulary through a semester course. Students without prior knowledge of German are directly enrolled in the course Deutsch als Fremdsprache A1.1. Students who have learned German before need to take a placement test in order to be assigned to suitable groups according to their language skills. ECTS can be awarded after fulfilment of the course requirements. This involves regular attendance and obtaining pass grades in all required assignments and tests.
Weekly semester courses
The German semester courses cover the CEFR Levels A1 to C1 and comprise 13 dates from October to January (winter semester) and March to June (summer semester). The classes take place once a week. Weekday and time schedule depend on the respective language level.
The German courses are part of the university language course cooperation program Verbund für Sprachenangelegenheiten (VESPA). The HdM cooperates with VESPA. Members of VESPA are: Hochschule für Technik (HFT), Akademie der Bildenden Künste (ABK) and Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst (HMDK) in Stuttgart.
