Students studying abroad for one semester or academic year at a partner university can apply for a semester of leave for this period. The decision as to whether to apply for one is optional and should be decided according to the individual situation. More on this.

HEALTH INSURANCE
As soon as you have received your confirmation letter confirming your place of study from the host university, it is time to take care of your health insurance. In order not to lose your student status at the HdM during your stay abroad, you generally have to also stay insured in Germany for the whole time you are abroad. More on this

VISUM
If you are planning a study abroad outside of Europe and do not have a valid passport at the time of your application, you should be sure to apply for or renew your passport as soon as possible, or at.
