Any kind of sound affects people immediately. Working with sounds, we strive to try to control the powerful tool of audio and to use it to evoke powerful emotions and illusions. The Minor Programme Music Production introduces students to the tools used for audio engineering, music production and sound design. During the semester students will gain experience in the following areas:
• recording musical instruments and the human voice
• producing, editing and mixing different styles of music (Classic, Jazz, Rock/Pop)
• applying psychoacoustic fundamentals in 3D-audio productions
• becoming familiar with the studio equipment at the HdM recording studio
• learning to cooperate and to communicate in an international student team
Prerequisites for participation:
In order to successfully participate in the classes offered, students must:
• have advanced knowledge of audio engineering fundamentals and production techniques
(microphones, mixing consoles, dynamic processing, and effects and stereophony)
• have practical skills in the use of digital audio workstations (e.g. Sequoia, ProTools, Nuendo, Reaper) and studio equipment
• demonstrate previous practical experience in audio production through a portfolio of their own productions (2-4 samples)
