    Beschreibung: Showing your expertise:
This course is designed to enable students with advanced English skills to show their competence in situations that count (e.g. job interviews). In times of widespread populism and science scepticism, our research question will be: What makes a good and believable expert today?

To sharpen your senses, we will analyse TED-talks on a variety of topics relevant to your studies at HdM. In our sessions, you will actively practice exchanging ideas and discussing matters. Reading assignments will provide you with background information on the respective discussion topic. Your active participation in the course will account for 20% of your final grade.

To develop your expert skills, we will practice relevant language structures for panel discussions. In groups, you will prepare and perform a panel discussion on a topic of your choice (40% of final grade).

At the end of the semester, you will need to produce an expert essay on a given topic, which will also account for 40% of your final grade.
Literatur: Course materials and links will be made available on Moodle.
