This course concentrates on Business English for Media which
includes interesting articles and internet sites. Some of the
material used covers English-German vocabulary translations when
possible; however students should find German translations when
necessary on their own. Internet access to online dictionaries is
available. In addition, interesting videos will be shown giving tips and examples for improving communication skills, (e.g. first contacts, small talk, meetings, socializing, etc.). Writing skills are encouraged with text production being written for dialogs, presentations and project vision documentation. Practising speaking skills will include reading texts aloud, verbal dialogs, short presentations as well as class participation. Improving one's listening comprehension abilities are enhanced by the use of audio CD transcripts, videos and short pop-quizzes. The differences of British and American English are also alluded to. |
