Beschreibung: Based on the reflection of media history and culture, we will discover the international trends in a converging media industry. Mass Communication in the times of digitalization forces media companies to rethink their business models. At the same time, digitalization affects our culture and consequently changes the way we use and consume media. Additionally, globalisation leads to new challenges for media companies that want to interact with different audiences. In this course, students will learn about the fundamentals of mass media communication. They will understand how mass media evolved in the past and will reflect on the effects of internet and mobile as the most recent trend in media convergence.
English Abstract: This course provides an introduction to the subject of media and communication studies. It covers the main cultural, social and political issues connected to media content and reception, media industries, and its production and effects.
