This course covers the creative processes of the game preproduction. The students develop ideas and concepts for games and create preproduction art and design packages to prepare the project for production. Emphasis will be on industry related visual development of original concepts, preproduction art for characters and environment serving the core game mechanics. The students will be guided through the process of: -developing a strong and unique game-vision with an innovative visual look for their game in industry related design pipelines focusing on the expected target group and market segment; -improving skills to create an engaging project, working solo or in groups, documenting the process (game design document and art bible); -learning the fundamentals of art direction in agile game productions, focusing on organisation and communication skills, filling the roles of art director, lead artists, vision keeper; -creating concept art for character and environment design and production paintings to support their concepts; -building a strong pitch deck for presenting their game (for intern, press, publisher and/or coop partners) Ideal for students who plan to make a Studioproduktion in the field game (IM) in the following semester |
