Beschreibung: This module offers a hands-on introduction to the world of campus radio broadcasting at HORADS 88.6. The course will introduce various forms of journalistic presentation (depending on the focus of the semester, e.g., university news, interviews, chat shows, and reportage). Participants will conceptualize, do research for, and implement cross-media news and reports. The overall aim will be to produce 1) a weekly 60-minute show called "Lost in Germany" that looks at international students' experiences abroad with all its challenges in a light-hearted way, plus 2) a weekly 45-minute format, "The Monday Lunch Club", which is an experimental free-form talk show. Both productions will be aired live via FM and accompanied and supplemented on the HORADS blog, Instagram, and SoundCloud. Content should also be designed, produced, and played out as podcasts.
Upon completion of the module, students will be confident in dealing with the language of radio, with journalistic forms of presentation (news, interviews, reports, features, etc.) as well as with the planning, preparation and implementation of contributions, broadcasts/podcasts, and online texts.
English Title: Media Production (Campus Radio HORADS 88.6)
English Abstract: In this course students learn the essential basics of producing live radio and podcast recordings. We'll be producing a weekly 60-minute show, "Lost in Germany" (focusing on expats' experiences abroad and intercultural communication), and a weekly 45-minute free-form/experimental format, "The Monday Lunch Club" which is basically a chat show on topics that are of interest to the wider stduent community. All of this in English, of course, and broadcast via Stuttgart's campus radio station, HORADS 88.6.
