English Title: Communication Networks 2
English Abstract: "Communication Networks 2" is the continuation of the compulsory basic lecture "Communication Networks 1". Following a top-down approach, various application protocols (HTTP, email, DNS, video streaming, CDN) are presented in the first part. The second part is dedicated to central topics of TCP/IP communication (reference model, transport layer, network layer). In the third part, the novel paradigm of network softwarization (network management, cloud computing, software-defined networking, data plane programming) is presented. The last part is dedicated to the link layer and LANs (VLAN, link virtualization, data center networking).

Weekly e-learning exercises (1 SWS) to deepen and apply the contents of the lecture (2 SWS) are offered via Moodle.
