In this seminar you will learn how to think and act as a game designer. Produce a game design document, design a playable prototype and learn how to evaluate games. Game Design Theory –What is Game Design –Player Types –MDA Theory –Game Design Principles –Game Design Patterns –Game Mechanics –Game based Graphics Design –Game User Interface Design –Interaction Design, Game Structure & Flow –Game Design Process Assignment 1: Deconstruct a Game based on Game Theory Storytelling –Storyworld –Magic Circle –Storytelling Tools for Game Design Game Design Creativity Workshops –We will organize a number of Workshops after we learned about the Game Design Theory Tools (You are required to learn those tools self sufficiently!) –Graphics 2D - Affinity Designer - Gimp –Prototyping low Fidelity Game Engine: (e.g. Construct, Game Maker) High Fidelity Game Enigine: Unity workshop (2D and 3D) Final Assignment : - Game Desing Specification Document - Vertical Slice of a Game (2 pixel perfect Levels of a game) - Scientific paper (5 Pages using the following "ACM Format https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template" |
English Abstract: | The goal of this praxis oriented seminar is to understand game design theory and learn how to design games. The focus of the seminar will be experience and interaction design for games, storytelling, game structures/interactions and storyworld building.
