Workload:	12 dates à 2 hours per week (attendance) plus self-study. Requirements for obtaining ECTS credits and language course certificate: Compulsory attendance Preparation and follow up of classes in self-study (reading and language assignments) Active participation in class (peer and group works, discussion) incl. assessment of verbal skills. Group meeting: agenda of your choice - groups of 3-4; One-pager handout of your meeting agenda Passing the final exam: grammar & vocabulary / reading comprehension/ essay question The final, overall grade consists of partial performances (KMP) that must be achieved over the entire duration of the course Please note: Regular attendance is mandatory and will be assessed: 85% of the course is to be completed in presence, this also applies to online - distance teaching formats, via videoconference. Make sure that you do not miss more than two classes (4 SWS in total) in order to successfully pass the course. The written and oral final examination normally takes place on the last day of the course. In order to pass the final, you have to achieve at least 60 percent in total.
Inhaltliche Verbindung zu anderen Lehrveranstaltungen im Modul:	At least a CEFR B2 level language knowledge of English is required (OOPT result B2 = score of 61 to 80).

Beschreibung:	Course description and Content Communicating clearly and with confidence in English is an essential part of university and business life. In this course, you will develop essential language skills for leading and taking part in successful business meetings. Through practical exercises and simulations, students will learn to present ideas effectively, handle discussions, and negotiate outcomes. Emphasis is placed on vocabulary, cultural awareness and non-verbal communication. Learning Objectives: Pitch ideas, lead and participate in business discussion Use a range of vocabulary and expressions suitable for business meetings Take meeting minutes and write summaries Content: Small talk Chairing a meeting Agreeing and disagreeing Making suggestions Checking and clarifying language Developing an argument Persuasive language Cultural awareness
